Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 - Master Syst ...

So, I decided to check out the early Sonic games, which I've never played. I was always under the impression that the Genesis versions were the superior ones, but for some reason, it's the Master System versions that are being featured in the popular section of the Virtual Consoles. What version do you guys think is the one to get ? Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 - Master Syst ...
I think it would be easier to just get Sonic Mega Collection as it has all the Sonic games excluding Sonic CD. That's why I didn't buy Sonic 3 because I knew if I wanted to play it I would just put in Sonic Mega Collection. But I would think the genesis version is fun as it was the first game I played on the Sega Genesis. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 - Master Syst ...
^ Isn't that a GCN game ? I doubt I'll be able to find it...
Yes for Gamecube, just the type of gaming systems the Wii plays. Sadly they have it for 40 dollars brand new on Amazon. Plus they have Sonic Gems Collection for 20 dollars brand new that one includes Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic R and a few other titles both are good buys if you want the entire Sonic Collection on your Wii.
The SEGA Genesis games are miles better in terms of quality.
Genesis.
they are both entirely different they aint the same, who is underthe impression that the sms and genesis versions of sonic are the same if they were sega wouldnt release it on 2 spots, they have entirely different levels , and music but ya get sonic mega collection and gems also sonic dx has unlockable genesis and game gear titles, so ya those 3 or get em all , just for the sake of it,
Get the Genesis versions... I love the Master System as a whole but Sonic on the Master System was a lot like Sonic on the Game Gear, which is not nearly as good as the Genesis Sonic.
Yes, definitely get the Genesis versions.
The SMS version of Sonic controls better and is much more challanging, a lot less repetitive too. It's strangely dated way better than the Genesis game. The waterfall level is brilliant, it makes you wonder why they would never move away from the basic formula on levels until S%26K which had some cool parts.

PLEASE, don't make the mistake of getting the master system versions

A lot of people get mixed up and I don't want anyone else to suffer. The Master System versions are horrible

Go straight for the Genesis ones.

The SMS sonics are good but the Genesis versions are way better.

I thought the Master System versions were just ported to the Game Gear. That's what I read.

Never had a Master System but I did have a Game Gear. Basically the differences I noted were that the GG had higher quality music and different colours used for certain levels.
Get the Genesis versions.
Sonic 1 and 2 on Genesis/Mega Drive are brilliant, but so is Sonic 1 on the Master System. Sonic 2 on the Master System however is a big pile of poop.
