some questions about mario galaxy

1) Did a search on the forum, found that it is NOT necassary to collect 100 coins,so with that how do i get the little crown that says im complete beside the galaxy's, ive collected all the stars in the first two observatory places.2) Is it 120 stars like sunshine and 64also while im here, i looked at the recommendations thread and saw that animal crossing and more important Tales of Symphonia were no where to be found. what gives?id really like a gamers opiion on the two ESPECIALLY TALES OF SYMPHONIA thanks in advancesome questions about mario galaxy
1) To get the crown you have to complete everything in each galaxy. Purple coin, Luigi Missions etc.



2)There are 120 stars.

and you have to find the hidden stars by the way other wise there is only around 100 stars if im rightoh and dont forget about the green star trial galaxies
There's actually 242 stars total. Once you get 120 as both Mario and Luigi you unlock Toad Town as a purple coin challenge. It's very laid back. No difficult to reach coins, you can walk around and talk to people, and you get a cool little picture sent to your Wii's inbox when you finish. It's a real feeling of accomplishment getting all of them.
