The Nintendo Wii Is The Best Console This GenerationThe Nintendo Wii has been the hot topic this entire generation as to whether it deserves the praise and hype it garners. The system is a simple machine touting technology dating back over a century ago, yet it is the single hottest item to sweep the world this millennium. The pure attention the Wii gathers is why it is the best console this generation. The rest of the argument is irrelevant, because inevitability intervenes. You may be surprised by what comes next, so keep reading! History is not always kind to its subjects for those who fight in the past. The opposite is true for those who pave a path for the future. The Nintendo Wii represents the future of gaming and the inevitability of its future of praise is coming soon. The sheer amount of hate that gamers show for the Wii will mean nothing when the Wii is finished and the next round of consoles are for sale, because the Wii is the first step to the future of gaming. Many have mocked Wii's inability to render fully realized 3D environments realistically, but that fight is set in the past and so are the games that we play on our Xbox360s and Playstation 3s. The path we are currently taking in gaming has been taken many times and no amount of excellent software can change that. The next big game will always be outdone when graphics and processing power rule. No game will be left special because the next title will always 1up it. This generation could very well be skipped, and gamers could easily move to the next generation when graphics have piqued and developers would have to focus on new ways to excite gamers. It is those new ways that interest the industry and this generation has seen fewer of those ''new ways'' than any generation before it.This is where the Wii enters the story and tells its own chapter. Currently, the Wii has seen next-to-no titles that have used the Wii remote's technology to their benefit, yet the technology has excited the industry to extreme levels. Tell me what happens when Wii Motion Plus enters the market and the Wii truly realizes what it promised from day one. There is no doubt that Nintendo will capitalize on this, and there is no doubt that Wii Motion Plus will become a Wii standard for the next round of software.When you combine this future hype to the current hype the system is gaining, the Wii's sales advantage will be catapulted to a level at which the competition will have little room to grow other than the niche gamers. Wii Motion Plus offers enough excitement with a system that truly has to be compelling to develop for, that software will continue to pile high for the Wii, and not just the bad software, because more gamers will support the system. It is pure inevitability. Market saturation will hit, you will see. The Wii is the future of gaming, it's just a matter of time. All of these factors will combine and solidify the Wii's stance in the gaming world, and there will be no doubt as to what the future of gaming will be, no doubt at all. As soon as the Wii's successor is released, the old path and the Wii's path will combine, and a new path will be set: virtual reality. Nintendo is the best console because instead of just trying to reproduce what a CPU can do, it takes a gaming to a new level. It is really the only next gen console, in terms of innovation. 360 and PS3 dont so anything that a CPU cant already do better. Anyone who is a true gamer accepts a game because it is good, not cause of the console it is on. Wii is a great little box, and I just wish it did get more ''good'' 3rd party support, but that seems to be coming.

I do love my Wii but I'm really excited to find out what Nintendo are doing next. Imagine a Wii2 with enhanced motion sensors, a 120gb solid state drive and a graphics card capable of rendering games at 1080p natively... Launching with Super Mario Universe.
i sure hope wii motion + will be used to its full potential.
Charts and graphs mean very little to me...what means more to me is actually providing what was promised to consumers. What was promised was a revolutionary new way of gaming. the execution has been far from revolutionary however.The Wii is the hottest gift this Christmas for the very same reason Tickle me Elmo was back in 95. Hype. Living up to hype however is beyond Nintendo's interests.

This is an excellent thread, good job. You're right, the Wii is the best system this generation. It's the only system that's done anything revolutionary compared to the PS3 and X-Box 360. Nintendo's always dominated, they're the best of the best and always will be.
There is no such thing as a ''best console'', it's all about the games you want to play. I for example prefer the 360 because it currently has more games I like(might change next year with all those potentially awesome Wii games being released), while someone else might prefer the PS3 because they love Little Big Planet and Valkyria Chronicles.
Oh... I know that.

Now t's time for developers to notice.

I think saying it's the ''best'' is a little bit of an exaggeration. And sometimes ''best'' can be a matter of opinion. I mean when you look at the sales, of course Wii wins. But as a video game console, when you look into video gaming communities, seems there are more 360/PS3 lovers than Wii ones. But eh maybe I'm wrong.

It's a good console, but I'd probably say it's the worst of the three.
Amazing just amazing. It's like your pitching me why the wii is great and why it will win the console wars real professional with graphs and stuff. In the end though the thing that matters most is sales and Wii dominates. Hallelujah! :D
