It's the only Wii title among GS's overall GOTY:http://www.gamespot.com/best-of/game-of-the-year/index.htmlIf makes no sense for the Wii GOTY to be different than the only Wii title on the overall GOTY.Yes, SSBB had a higher score than No More Heroes for GS, but the rating alone doesn't matter. It's over: No More Heroes willl win GS's ...
I think the bigger travesty is that de Blob isn't even a nominee for best Wii game. WTF guys? :(It's over: No More Heroes willl win GS's ...

Yep. It was missing from from the best platformers as well.

Ugh, how unfortunate. The Wii had much better games this year.NMH was OK, but it was just way to repetitive to win GOTY on the system
SSBB is clearly the better game though. I even thought de Blob was better
Interesting conclusionSo the game that's not currently winning the best Wii game of the year will win?So you know who is going to vote later?

What sense would that make if Brawl won Wii Game of the Year if No More Heroes is nominated as the only overall Wii GOTY? Brawl wasn't there. As a result, the winner has to be No More Heroes.
I was surprised to only see that up there. I was like where is SSBB
It's a trap!!! They know lot's of people hate it so they want to drive us insane.
Seriously how the hell did NHL09 get a nomination for GOTY and not SSBB? :?
Seriously how the hell did NHL09 get a nomination for GOTY and not SSBB? :?
After reading through both the list of nominees for each category and looking at how the userbase voted in each category, I have to say I wished I hadn't, as it's made me a little depressed. :P
Or maybe Gamespot's just being bias? Seriously, Brawl has about four times as many votes.:PI was also very desturbed that de Blob was not on the list for best platformer or wii game of the year. At least it'll win best Australian game, but that just doesn't do it justice.
When I read here that de Blob wasn't on my list, I decided to reserve my judgement and see which games made the list. I actually haven't played de Blob (yet), but recalled hearing it was good (except for the usual few naysayers all games have), so was curious as to what made it.While I haven't played the nominees yet either, there was one game on there that, from what I recall received a very ''meh'' response, if it even got that positive, and I had at least played a demo of, so I feel forced to ask:Mirror's Edge... really?(It gives me the same feeling I got upon learning Brett Farve got picked over Chad Pennington for the Pro Bowl (American football reference).)
At least it'll win best Australian game, but that just doesn't do it justice.
There were only four games on that list as opposed to five, which leads me to believe it's on that list basically purely because there are no other Aussie games to pick from. :PThe fact that the only list it makes is one that it made by default is a little sad.
Seriously how the hell did NHL09 get a nomination for GOTY and not SSBB? :?
In all fairness, NHL '09 is one of the best hockey games, if not sports game, I have ever played. It's absolutely fantastic and a gigantic jump for the series. If Madden can receive nominations in previous years, why not NHL? SSB:B can get nominated for all I care, but if it was to actually win in some terrible parallel universe, I swear I might just...do....... something.
Brawl was my favorite, I think it should win.
Let's get something straight here. The voting is for Reader's Choice. Gamespot's actual Wii Game of the Year is chosen by the editors, regardless of how the voting turns out. With that said, it looks like the official Wii Game of the Year will be between Brawl and No More Heroes, neither of which I enjoyed very much. I'm hoping for a surprise and one of the downloadable games will win. If that's the case, it's a close one in my book between Megaman and World of Goo. The former is an amazing revisiting of a classic, while the latter is entirely new and amazing. I won't be disappointed if either of them wins.No More Heroes has WAY too many problems for it to win any positive awards, in my opinion. It could win the Most Wasted Potential Award, if that existed. I'm pretty sure it was rushed out the door before it could be really fine tuned, which is most likely the publisher's fault rather than the developer, so I'm not really knocking Suda or Grasshopper. The game has its moments, but they're overshadowed by the glaring faults. Brawl just isn't my type of game. I had fun with it for several weeks, but it couldn't keep my interest. It's mostly a quality game, except for the iffy online, so I wouldn't care too much if it wins awards. The gameplay is solid and fun, and there's a ton of content. Of NMH and Brawl, I'd be less disappointed if Brawl won.As for Mario Kart, as much as I love it, I don't think it's even a serious contender this time. It was easily the game that I personally had the most fun and spent the most time with this year, but I don't really feel like it's GotY material. I think Megaman and World of Goo were just too surprisingly awesome to be outdone by Mario Kart's expected, tried-and-true greatness.

If not, you absolutely have to before making a decision about GOTY. I insist. :xAnd yes, I am pimping it every chance I get. It is one of the best games I've played and deserves far more recognition.
IMO No More Heroes is a good pick. Sure, the game has it's fault but I really think that the good greatly outshines the bad. It is a shame that the game is not as polished as it could have been, but I'm still not sure whether Suda wanted it that way or not, and then I begin to wonder how full of yourself you have to be to release an unpolished game. Regardless it's just too stylish, bizarre, and just fun to let some of the problems really hinder your enjoyment. As much as I enjoy Brawl it's just an update to Melee, Nintendo didn't do anything revolutionary to the formula, they just added some new characters and levels. Big whoop. I love Brawl, but for GOTY I'd have to give it to a new game like NMH than Brawl.
